George Toriello sent me this information on December 6, 2018 on Evan J. Colella
and his service.

Evan J. Colella was born in Rochelle Park on October 21, 1933 and enlisted at the age of 18 into the Navy, according to the Veterans Affairs records, on June 20, 1951and served until August 3, 1954.   The Korean conflict had officially ended on July 27, 1953 with the signing of the Armistice.  Evan J. Colella served on board the USS Columbus CA-74.  The ship was Reclassified CG-12 after the Korean War. George Toriello’s source was a family member from Ancestry.com.

USS Columbus (CA-74), a Baltimore-class heavy cruiser, was the first ship of the United States Navy named for Columbus, ... On 30 September 1959, the USS Columbus was retrofitted as an Albany class Guided Missile Cruiser, CG-12.
